CHANEY HONORED

Hall of Fame basketball coach John Chaney, now 85, was honored Oct. 1 at the 2nd Annual Philadelphia Legacy Awards Dinner in downtown Philadelphia. Chaney was introduced as someone who fought for social causes and who was an ambassador of racial equality, especially when discussing education. But his playing days at Ben Franklin High, Bethune Cookman (Fl.) and the Eastern League were also mentioned fondly. But even those two aspects of his life couldn’t hold a candle to his coaching...

PLYMOUTH WHITEMARSH STARS REUNITE

Chuck Moore and John Salmons are two all-time great hoopsters from Plymouth Whitemarsh. In 1997, the duo led the team to a PIAA 4A state championship. Salmons went on to have an illustrious NBA career. Moore played in college and, after a brief career overseas, he is now head coach at Coatesville.
