Progressive advocacy and leadership group celebrates excellence

The National Coalition of 100 Black Women, Pa. Chapter hosted its 30th annual Madam CJ Walker Economic Development/Scholarship luncheon on Sat., March 19, at the Loews Hotel. Nearly 700 women attended the event, which celebrates businesswomen from the area and across the country. Sarah Breedlove, known as Madam C.J. Walker, was an American entrepreneur and philanthropist, regarded as the first female self-made millionaire in America. Annual luncheons are held around the country to honor Walker’s business philosophy and to recognize outstanding women, and to award scholarships to students active in the community.

Extravagant opening for new casino lounge

Parx Casino has opened X Lounge, a new luxury lounge located at the back of the Bensalem casino. An opening cocktail party was held to showcase it’s bar and food. Guests enjoyed a selection of craft beer, wine flights and crafted cocktails as they watched football on the giant LED TV’s above the bar.
